Thermocouples

Thermocouples are rugged, versatile temperature sensors built for demanding industrial environments, especially where high heat, vibration, or harsh process conditions are present. Pyromation offers multiple thermocouple types so the sensor can be matched to the process atmosphere, temperature range, response time, sheath material, protection tube, and installation requirement. Options include common base-metal thermocouples for general industrial use, noble-metal thermocouples for higher temperature applications, and specialty thermocouples for extreme or unique environments. Pyromation can also provide thermocouple assemblies in custom configurations, including MgO, industrial, replacement, hazardous-location, and explosion-proof style options.

RTDs

RTDs are used when accuracy, repeatability, and long-term stability are critical to the process. Pyromation provides RTDs in multiple constructions, element types, wiring configurations, and temperature ranges, allowing customers to get a precise sensor built for their equipment rather than settling for a standard off-the-shelf option.

Transmitters

Transmitters convert the signal from a thermocouple or RTD into a reliable output that can be used by controllers, PLCs, and monitoring systems. Pyromation offers programmable, HART®, display, dual-input, and hazardous-location-rated transmitter options to help improve signal quality, simplify installation, and support dependable process control.

Thermowells

Thermowells provide a protective barrier between the temperature sensor and the process, shielding the sensor from pressure, flow, corrosion, vibration, and harsh operating conditions. Pyromation manufactures thermowells in a wide range of styles, materials, and custom configurations, helping customers improve sensor life, simplify maintenance, and replace probes without shutting down or exposing the process.

Thermocouple & RTD wire

Thermocouple grade wire is used in construction of a thermocouple temperature sensor. Thermocouple extension wire is used to carry the signal from the thermocouple sensor to the readout device while maintaining a high degree of accuracy. The extension wire material must match the material used in the positive and negative leg of the thermocouple type (e.g. type K) being used in the application. If a transmitter is installed within the thermocouple sensor assembly, copper wire is typically used in place of thermocouple extension wire to send the scalable (4 to 20) mA signal back to the process control equipment.

RTD sensors use ordinary copper instrumentation cable to send the resistance signal back to the recording, readout or control device. If a transmitter is installed within the RTD sensor assembly, copper wire is typically used to send the scalable (4 to 20) mA signal back to the process control equipment.
